OpenWindows

I thought about this name, why doesn’t Microsoft make the source code for its older Windows versions like Windows 98 public? The name OpenWindows has been used before by Sun Microsystems (a competitor of Microsoft) however so I don’t know if they can use the name (although it could be argued that they own it already because OpenWindows refers to their Windows, or not..?). Mmm, just an idea, and I guess it hasn’t been done because Microsoft is afraid it will sell less. That perhaps will be true, but if an other software company ever creates a free OS which can run windows programs (without problems), then a lot of people will perhaps use that instead of Windows. An open source windows version will also help Microsofts image, because open source is ‘it’ these days…
